Who We Are
This website is owned and operated by StormPhoenix (“we”, “us”, “our”). Our website address is: https://www.stormphoenix.co.za (the “Site”).
What Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
Like many other sites, we use log files. These files record visitors to the site – usually a standard procedure for hosting companies and a part of hosting services’ analytics. The information inside the log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. This information is used to analyse trends, administer the site, track your movement around the site, and gather demographic information. IP addresses, and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.
When you leave a comment on our site we collect your IP address, user agent and referrer (along with any other information provided by you such as your name, email address, and the comment itself), to help spam detection.
If you upload images to our site, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the site can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
When you complete a Contact Form on our site we collect your IP address, user agent and referrer (along with any other information you provide such as your name, email address, and the message itself). By default, all contact form submissions are kept for a period of one year, for customer services purposes.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will expire after one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies expire after two days, and screen options cookies expire after a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
During the download checkout process, we collect information provided by you including your name, email address, billing address, credit card/payment details, and any other details that might be requested from you for the purpose of processing your order(s).
The information you provide allows us to:
- Send you important account, order and service information.
- Respond to your queries, refund requests, or complaints.
- Process payments and prevent fraudulent transactions. This is done on the basis of our legitimate business interests.
- Set up and administer your account, provide technical and/or customer support, and to verify your identity.
Additionally, we may also collect the following data:
- Location and traffic data (including IP address and browser type) if you place an order, or if we need to calculate taxes and shipping costs based on your location.
- Product pages visited and content viewed while your session is active, to improve user experience.
- Your comments and product reviews if you choose to leave them on our site.
- If you choose to create an account with us, your name, address, and email address will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.
- Your account email and password to allow you to access your account, if you have one.
If you sign up to our mailing list we collect the information you provide, such as your name and email address. You will receive emails that may include news, updates and related product or service information.
If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, unsubscribe instructions are included at the bottom of each email, or you may contact us via the site. By default, all subscription information is removed when the user is unsubscribed from the mailing list.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other site.
We use Google Analytics to analyse all user activity on our site, in order to administer the website and improve your user experience.
Google Analytics will drop a cookie in your browser, which will track your movement around our site and gather demographic information. The data collected includes your IP address, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and the number of clicks. None of the data collected is linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The cookie is discarded when you close your browser.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal information regarding visitors and users, with business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers, for the purposes outlined above. We may also use third-party service providers to help operate the business and the website, or administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out newsletters or surveys. If we share personal information with these third-parties, it will only be for those limited purposes.
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
When you register on our website, we store the personal information you provide in your user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except you cannot change your username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where We Send Your Data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
How We Protect Your Data
We have adopted appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices, and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of personal information.
