Privacy Policy

I take your privacy very seriously. This Privacy Policy will outline the types of information that I collect and record, and how I use it.

Who I Am

StormPhoenix is owned and operated by Rochelle Robson. My website address is:

What Personal Data I Collect and Why I Collect It

Like many other websites, StormPhoenix uses log files. These files record visitors to the site, which is a standard practice for hosting companies and a part of hosting services’ analytics. The info inside the log files includes your internet protocol (IP) address, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and the number of clicks. I then use this info to analyse trends, manage the site, track your movement around the site, and collect demographic info. IP addresses, and other such details are not linked to any info that can identify you personally.

Every time you leave a comment, I collect your IP address, user agent and referrer (along with any other details you enter such as your name, email address, and the comment). This is done to help me detect spam.

I may also send an anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) to the Gravatar service, to see if you are using it. Your profile picture will then be visible to the public in relation to your comment, after your comment is approved. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here:

You should avoid uploading images with the embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included, when you upload images to the site. This is because visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from the images on the site.

Contact Forms

Each time you complete a contact form, I collect your IP address, user agent and referrer (along with any other details you enter such as your name, email address, and the message). By default, I keep all contact form submissions for a period of one year, for customer services purposes.

When you leave a comment you have the option to save your name, email address and website in the cookies. This is for your convenience, so that you do not have to fill in your details every time you leave a comment. These cookies will expire after one year.

If you visit the login page, I will set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and will be deleted when you close your browser.

I will also set up several cookies when you log in, to save your login info and your screen display choices. The login cookies will expire after two days, and the screen options cookies will expire after one year. If you choose the “Remember Me” option, you will stay logged in for two weeks. But, if you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

An additional cookie will be saved in your browser when you edit or publish an article. This cookie includes no personal data and simply shows the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

During checkout, I collect the data you enter including your name, email address, credit card/payment details, and any other info needed from you to be able to process your order(s).

The details you provide allow me to do the following:

  • Send you important account, order and service info.
  • Respond to your questions, refund requests, or complaints.
  • Process payments and avoid dodgy transactions.
  • Set up and manage your account, provide customer support, and to confirm your identity.

In addition, I may also collect the following info:

  • Location and traffic data (including IP address and browser type) when you place an order.
  • Which product pages you visit and the content you view while your session is active.
  • Comments and product reviews, if you choose to leave them on the site.
  • Your name and email address when you create an account, so that I can fill in the checkout for future orders.
  • And, your username and password, so that you can access your account (if you have one).

Electronic Newsletters

If you sign up to the mailing list, I will collect the details you provide such as your name and email address. They will be used to send you emails that may include news, updates and related product or service info.

To stop receiving these emails, you will find the instructions at the bottom of each email. You can also do this using the website contact form, by putting ‘unsubscribe’ in the subject line. By default, all subscription info is removed when you are taken off the mailing list.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Some articles on this site may include embedded content from other websites (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). When you view embedded content, it will be the same as visiting those other sites.

This means that those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and keep track of how you deal with that content. This includes tracing your dealings with the content, if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

I use Google Analytics to analyse all your activity on the site, in order to manage the website and improve your experience.

Google Analytics drops a cookie in your browser, which tracks your movement around the site and collects demographic info. The data collected includes your IP address, browser type, ISP, date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and the number of clicks. However, none of the data collected is linked to any info that can identify you personally. And, the cookie is deleted when you close your browser.

Who I Share Your Data With

I do not sell, trade, or rent your personal info to others. In some cases I may share general combined demographic info with trusted affiliates, for the reasons stated above. But, none of this data is linked to any personal info about my visitors and account holders. I may also use third-party service providers to help me operate the business and the website, or to manage activities on my behalf such as sending out newsletters. But, if I share personal info with these third-parties, it will only be for those limited purposes.

How Long I Keep Your Data

When you leave a comment, I keep the comment and its metadata for an unlimited period of time. This is so that I can recognise and approve any future comments automatically, instead of holding them in moderation.

When you register for an account, I store the personal info you enter in your profile. You can view, edit, or delete your personal info at any time. However, you cannot change your username. Website administrators can also see and edit your info.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can ask me to send you an exported file of all the personal data that I hold about you, including any info you have given me. You can also ask me to delete any personal data that I hold about you. Unfortunately, this does not include any data that I have to keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

Where I Send Your Data

All visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service.

How I Protect Your Data

I have taken on all the proper data collection, storage and processing practices, and security measures. This is to make sure that your personal info is protected against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.
